Mobile Phones As Remote Controls

Mobile Phones As Remote Controls

Where Does it End! Although I enjoy my many applications on my cell phone, I think that evolution of the cellphone is moving too fast. I simply can not keep up with all the changes and new developments. Just as I learn something, there is something new being introduced. I've only had my phone for four months and I'm just now getting the hang of searching and downloading applications.

Although beneficial, I can see the danger in high speed cell phones. The biggest danger is Cheating in the Classroom. With cellphones so equipped, a student can use their phone to research answers on the Internet or/and send answers to friends. (Sorry but I still don't see the need for cellphones in school. We survived our school years without them. But wait, that's not what we are discussing-sorry)

True story: To test my theory on cellphones and cheating, yesterday I went into my sons classroom for a "class visit". While sitting at a desk, I clicked on the Internet option on my phone. Then I Google searched the textbook. Once at the website, I found the exact worksheet that the teacher distributed. I put in some quick answers and submitted the quiz. Instantly, the paper was graded and the correct answers displayed. I did all of this within 4 minutes.

With phones that can access the Internet, capable of texting numerous people at one time, and saving enormous files of information, I guess it would be expected that they could be used as a remote. What's next: start your car, turn on the stove.

Although, I don't usually purchase applications, I would buy this one just to drive my husband crazy and No more digging in the couch for the lost remote!

  1. There is no end in sight. Though I am very dependent on my cellular phone, I only just it for its major functions, calling and texting. We have so much technology right at our fingertips that we sometimes don’t know what to do with it. I remember a teacher once telling me “K.I.S.S.” (Keep It Simple Stupid) and that is my rule when it comes to my cell phone.
I would love to be able to keep up with “The Jones” in technology but truth be told, it’s impossible on my teacher’s salary. Every week a company comes out with the next new hot thing and personally I can’t afford it.
As the world continues to develop around technology I can’t help but wonder “How long before the life of “The Jetson’s” become our reality? I agree with you Tiffany, first the television, then the car and the microwave. What will it be after that?
